The 3rd generation Toyota Avensis family officially debuted at the Paris Motor Show in the fall of 2008, and already in January 2009, its implementation began.

The first restyling overtook the car in 2011 - it received a more attractive appearance and an improved interior, but a year later Avensis left the Russian market due to low demand from buyers.

The next stage of modernization overtook the model in 2015 - in the spring in Geneva, an updated version debuted, which went on sale in the summer and lasted on the conveyor until March 2018 (after which Avensis finally "retired").

As a result of restyling, the "third" Toyota Avensis has changed noticeably, but retained its recognizable appearance. If before the Japanese representative of the D-class had a strict and fit appearance, then his successor became more beautiful and more attractive, and all the changes made were beneficial to the car.

The exterior of the Avensis 2016 model year is tailored to the modern style of the Japanese manufacturer, and this is especially evident in the front end: a narrow false radiator grille, elongated head optics with full LED filling and a powerful bumper with large air intakes and fog lamp sections. The harmonious silhouette of the "Japanese" is distinguished by correct and dynamic proportions - this applies to both the sedan and the station wagon.

The rear of the Toyota Avensis features stylish LED lights, interconnected by a chrome strip, and a bumper with embossed shapes and a protective strip at the bottom.

The length of the updated "Avensis" is 4750 mm (the wagon is 70 mm longer), the width does not exceed 1810 mm, and the height is 1480 mm. Compared to the pre-reform model, he added 40 mm in length, the rest of the indicators have not changed. This also applies to the size of the wheelbase and ground clearance - 2700 mm and 140 mm, respectively.

The interior of Toyota Avensis is designed in the current corporate style of the Japanese brand, and nothing reminds of the "old Avensis" here. The instrument cluster is crowned with a pair of wells, which are separated by a 4.2-inch TFT color display, the multifunction steering wheel has a 3-spoke design and controls for music, cruise control and other gadgets. In the center of the front panel there was a place for an 8-inch screen of the multimedia complex and an air conditioning control unit with an individual monochrome display.

The salon of the restyled "Avensis" of the 3rd generation is equipped with comfortable front seats with expressive lateral support rollers and wide adjustment ranges, the rear sofa provides comfortable seating for three passengers, offering a sufficient supply of space in each direction.

For daily needs, the three-volume Toyota Avensis provides a luggage compartment with a volume of 509 liters, for the station wagon this figure is 34 liters more (it also has the ability to increase to 1609 liters by folding the back of the second row of seats). True, in the underground niche there is only a compact "dock".

Specifications. For the Japanese D-class model, three gasoline and two diesel units are available, and if as a result of the update, the first was given a minimum amount of attention, then the latter were tinkered with seriously.
The base petrol variant is a 1.6-liter "aspirated", generating 132 horsepower and 160 Nm of torque at 4400 rpm and combined with a 6-speed "mechanics". Regardless of the body type, Toyota Avensis conquers the first hundred in 10.4 seconds, is able to develop 200 km / h, consuming no more than 6.1 liters of fuel in mixed mode.
An intermediate position is given to the 147-strong "four" with a volume of 1.8 liters, giving out 180 Nm of thrust at 4000 rpm. It can be paired with a "mechanic" for six gears or a CVT variator, which allow the "third" Toyota Avensis after 9.4-10.4 seconds to go to conquer the second hundred, accelerate to 200 km / h and "eat" with an average of 5.9 -6 liters of gasoline.
The role of the flagship is performed by a 2.0-liter unit with 152 "horses" of potential and 196 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm and equipped with a continuously variable variator. Such a tandem provides the "Japanese" conquering 100 km / h from a standstill in 10 seconds, at 205 km / h its peak capabilities are limited, and at 6.1 liters - an average appetite.

The pre-styling Avensis of the third generation was equipped with supercharged diesel "fours": 2.0 D-4D with a return of 126 forces and 310 Nm and 2.2 D-4D with a capacity of 150-177 horsepower (340-400 Nm of peak thrust). As a result of the upgrade, they were dismissed, and their place was taken by a 1.6-liter D-4D turbo engine, producing 112 "horses" and 270 Nm, and a 2.0-liter D-4D engine, the potential of which reaches 143 forces and 320 Nm.
For diesel engines, only a mechanical transmission is assigned. The characteristics of "Avensis" on heavy fuel are as follows: acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 9.5-11.4 seconds, "maximum" 180-200 km / h, average consumption of diesel fuel 4.1-4.5 liters.

The Toyota Avensis is based on the MC architecture with independent front suspension based on MacPherson struts and double wishbones with a longitudinal beam at the rear. At the same time, the 2016 model year car was equipped with softer shock absorbers and springs, and the anti-roll bars, on the contrary, were made stiffer.

The steering gear is supplemented with an electric amplifier. The front wheels of the "Japanese" are equipped with 320 mm ventilated brake discs, the rear ones - 290 mm.

Options and prices. At the beginning of 2018, in European markets, the Toyota Avensis sedan was offered at a price of 23,740 euros, and the station wagon was 1,000 euros more expensive.

The list of standard vehicle equipment includes: airbags (front and side), multi-steering wheel, full-fledged "climate", multimedia complex, full power accessories, 17-inch wheels and so on.
Additionally, it was possible to order: a combined interior trim with Alcantara inserts, navigation, a rear-view camera, a panoramic roof and 18-inch alloy wheels.
