The Great Wall Wingle 7 is a mid-size, four-wheel drive, five-seater pickup truck that combines attractive looks, modern interior, and simple and reliable design. This "truck" is addressed, first of all, to family men leading an active lifestyle who want to get a truly "universal car" suitable for comfortable daily movement, and for transporting all kinds of belongings, and for outings ...

The official premiere of the GWM (Great Wall Motor) Wingle 7 took place at the end of September 2018 in China, and soon after that it went on sale in its home country.

The car was developed by the efforts of Great Wall's own specialists (at least, according to the automaker itself), becoming not another iteration of the previous Wingles, but a truly new model, albeit with a frame, leading the lineage from the first generation Isuzu D-Max.

Outwardly, the Great Wall Wingle 7 looks quite attractive, balanced and modern, but in its outlines there are obvious "quotes" from the pickups of Japanese and American automakers. A brutal front end with frowning headlights, a hexagonal radiator grille and a massive bumper, a characteristic silhouette with a long hood, "inflated" wheel arches and a "separate" side platform, an unpretentious stern with vertical lights and a neat bumper - there are simply no contradictory details in the exterior of the "truck".

This is a mid-size pickup truck with the appropriate overall dimensions: its length is 5395 mm, the height is 1760 mm, and the width does not exceed 1800 mm. The distance between the wheelsets of the front and rear axles of the car is 3350 mm, and its ground clearance reaches 214 mm.

Interior

The interior of the Wingle 7 pickup as a whole evokes mostly positive emotions (at least visually) - a weighty multifunctional steering wheel with a four-spoke rim, a laconic instrument cluster with several analogue dials and a small display between them, a nice center console with a protruding 8-inch infotainment screen and a logical climate control unit.

Formally, the interior of a mid-size "truck" has a five-seat layout, but in fact, only two passengers will be able to accommodate more or less comfortably in the back, which is hinted at, among other things, by the shape of the back with two head restraints. In the front part of the "apartment" there are well-profiled armchairs with a distinct side profile and a wide range of adjustments.

In the arsenal of the Chinese pickup there is a cargo platform with anti-slip and anti-vandal coating, which has the following internal dimensions: length - 1680 mm, width - 1460 mm, side height - 480 mm.

The declared carrying capacity of the car does not exceed 480 kg.

Specifications

In the Russian market for the Great Wall Wingle 7, an uncontested four-cylinder diesel engine with a working volume of 2.0 liters with an in-line layout, turbocharging, common rail direct injection and a 16-valve timing belt, which generates 143 horsepower 3600 rpm and 315 Nm of torque at 1400-2800 rpm.

The engine is combined exclusively with a 6-speed "manual" gearbox and part-time all-wheel drive with a Borg Warner transfer case, "lowering" and a forced locking of the rear differential.

It should be noted that in the future in our country may appear gasoline "aspirated" 2.4 liters, developing 150 hp. and 220 Nm of peak traction, which is combined with a 5-speed "mechanics" Aisin and all-wheel drive transmission with a rigidly connected front axle.

Design features

At the heart of the GWM Wingle 7 is a classic ladder frame made with extensive use of high-strength steel grades. On the front axle of the car, an independent suspension is applied on double A-arms, installed parallel to each other, and on the rear axle there is a dependent architecture, suspended using leaf springs.

Nominally, a mid-size pickup truck relies on a rack-and-pinion steering system with a hydraulic power steering. Both front and rear, the car is equipped with disc brakes (in the first case - ventilated), working in conjunction with ABS and EBD.

Options and prices

At the initial stage, the Great Wall Wingle 7 is offered on the Russian market in a single Comfort configuration, for which dealers ask for at least 1,749,000 rubles.

In the "base" the car boasts: front airbags, 16-inch alloy wheels, one-zone "climate", LED DRLs, a media center with a color screen, "cruise", heated front seats, an audio system with six columns, electric drive and heated mirrors, electric windows , ABS, ESP and other modern options.
