Rolls-Royce Phantom is a rear-wheel drive luxury sedan of the executive class (aka "F-segment" by European standards) and, concurrently, the "commander-in-chief" of the British mechanical engineering model range, which combines: monumental design, an impressive level of luxury and comfort, modern and high-performance “stuffing” and rich equipment ... Its target audience is “the mighty of this world”, who “are used to taking everything from life” ...

For the first time, the flagship four-door of the eighth generation was revealed to the world community on July 27, 2017 (during an online presentation), and two days later it made its debut as part of a special event in London called The Great Eight Phantom. ...

After the “next reincarnation”, the car evolved inside and out, retaining its recognizable appearance, but at the same time it underwent colossal changes in technical terms - it “moved” to a completely new modular platform and “armed” with an upgraded engine.

Outside, the "eighth" Rolls-Royce Phantom boasts a majestic, prim and moderately attractive appearance - the three-volume with its entire appearance shows who is the "master on the road".

At the front, the executive sedan flaunts incredibly monumental outlines with narrow LED headlights, a huge chrome "shield" of the radiator grille and a "figured" bumper, and at the back it attracts attention with a rather refined look with "soft" contours of the trunk lid, elegant lanterns and two trapezoidal exhaust pipes.

In profile, the four-door has a presentable and very harmonious silhouette with a long hood, short front overhang, embossed "shoulder" area and a massive C-pillar through which the roof flows smoothly into the "branch" of the trunk.

"Phantom" of the eighth generation is offered in two versions - with a standard or extended wheelbase. "Regular" sedan in length extends to 5762 mm, of which 3552 mm is the center distance, is 2018 mm in width, and does not exceed 1646 mm in height. In the "stretched" modification (with the EWB attachment), the length and the gap between the wheelsets are increased by 200 mm.

The interior of the Rolls-Royce Phantom VIII seamlessly blends progressive technology and classic solutions, yet impresses with an uncompromising level of luxury.

A three-spoke steering wheel with an almost "flat" rim, a completely "painted" instrument cluster with a widescreen 12.3-inch display, an impressive center console with a color screen (though not touchscreen), round ventilation deflectors and a minimalist "microclimate" block - the interior of the four-door looks quite restrained , which in this case only emphasizes its highest status.

Exceptionally expensive finishing materials are observed in the car interior - premium leather, natural wood, aluminum and much more.

On the first row there are comfortable chairs with unobtrusive support on the sides, filling with optimal density, a large number of electric adjustments, heating and other modern technologies.

"Gallery" can be represented either by a full-fledged three-seater sofa, or by two separate seats with a massive central tunnel in the middle, a full range of electrical settings (including slightly turning chairs towards each other), heating (including armrests), ventilation, folding screens and folding tables.

Rolls-Royce Phantom of the eighth generation has no problems with practicality - its trunk is able to "absorb" 548 liters, show me. In addition to this, the "hold" of the four-door has a comfortable shape and "flaunts" a neat finish with noble materials.

The "heart" of the executive sedan is a gasoline twelve-cylinder unit with a working volume of 6.75 liters with a V-shaped structure of the cylinder block, two turbochargers, a direct injection system, a 48-valve timing and variable valve timing, the performance of which has 571 horsepower at 5000 rpm and 900 Nm of torque capacity at 1700 rpm.

The engine is stuck together with an 8-band "automatic" ZF, "tied" to navigation (for example, before lifting, the electronics are able to preemptively downshift), which directs all the power to the wheels of the rear axle.

From zero to 100 km / h, the British flagship "catapults" in just 5.3 seconds (the long-wheelbase version does this discipline 0.1 seconds longer), and the maximum "rests" at 250 km / h (the speed is forcibly limited by electronics).

In a combined cycle of movement, a car "digests" about 15 liters of fuel for every "hundred" kilometers.

At the heart of the eighth Rolls-Royce Phantom is a modular platform called Architecture of Luxury, which is a space frame made of aluminum with winged metal and composite body panels suspended from it.

On the front axle of the sedan, an independent double-wishbone structure is used, and on the rear axle, a five-link system: already in the basic version, it has pneumatic elements that maintain the ground clearance at the same level regardless of load, and adaptive shock absorbers.
In addition, the three-volume suspension is active: under the windshield there is a stereo camera that "reads" the road in front of the car and sends commands to the active transverse stabilizer, which operate on a 48-volt network and, if necessary, change the position of the body.

By default, the vehicle is equipped with a hydraulic power steering system with a variable steering ratio and a fully steered chassis with a rear axle thruster. All wheels of the four-door are equipped with ventilated disc brakes, complemented by many modern electronic assistants.

In the Russian market, Rolls-Royce Phantom of the eighth generation in 2018 is offered at a price of 36,500,000 rubles, while an extended modification will cost from 44,500,000 rubles (although these figures are purely theoretical, since all cars are assembled under individual requests).

As a standard, this executive sedan boasts: a scattering of airbags, fully LED optics, 22-inch wheels, virtual instrument cluster, ABS, EBD, ESP, DSC, cornering braking system, four-zone "climate", panoramic cameras, media center, premium audio system , heated and ventilated both rows of seats and the "darkness" of other progressive equipment.
