The successor to the mid-size crossover Cadillac SRX, dubbed "XT5", made its world debut on November 9, 2015 at a car show in Dubai, but its pre-premiere took place a few months before - at the New York Public School. Serial production of the premium "American" was launched in the spring of 2016, and in the summer it hit the salons of official dealers.

At the end of June 2019, at a special event in China, the Americans presented a restyled crossover to the general public, the modernization of which, according to them, went through thirty points, although there were few really serious changes: it was slightly "refreshed" in appearance, made minor changes to salon (significantly updating the multimedia system) and separated a new gasoline unit paired with a 9-speed "automatic".

Externally, the Cadillac XT5 looks beautiful and energetic, and its nobility gives its appearance a distinct resemblance to the flagship CT6 sedan. A massive grille shield with a fine-mesh structure, a sports bumper and stylish headlights with LED vertical running light stripes give the front of the car aggressiveness and freshness, while graceful "blades" of the lamps and a raised bumper with two exhaust "trapeziums" crown the burning stern, adding power and sportiness.

And the silhouette of the SUV did not disappoint - the "inflated" outlines of the wheel arches, the falling contours of the roof, towards which the sill line rises, and large wheel rims of a beautiful design.

Dimensions and weight

As already noted, the Cadillac XT5 is a representative of the mid-size community, as evidenced by its overall dimensions: 4815 mm in length, 1903 mm in width and 1675 mm in height. The "American" has a gap of 2857 mm between the wheelsets, and the ground clearance is 194-197 mm (this indicator is influenced by the dimension of the wheels).

When equipped, the five-door weighs from 2047 to 2084 kg, depending on the modification.

Interior

The interior of the XT5 is inspired by the flagship CT6 model - with streamlined surfaces and minimal intricate lines, which makes it look modern and presentable.

The stylish four-spoke multi-function steering wheel with wood trim on the hub hides a laconic instrument cluster with analogue digitization and color "scoreboard", while the elegant center "ebb" front panel flaunts the large infotainment screen and a beautiful "climate" unit with touch management.

Finishing materials in the interior of the Cadillac XT5 fully correspond to its premium essence - expensive plastics, high-class leather, natural wood and aluminum inserts.

The front riders are in charge of comfortable seats with a pronounced profile, heating and electric adjustment. On the second row of seats, there is a three-seater sofa that can change the angle of the backrest and move along the interior.

The luggage compartment of the American off-road vehicle has the correct shape and a decent volume even in the usual state - 849 liters. The back of the "gallery" is cut into three parts in a ratio of 40:20:40, and as a result of the transformation it fits into a completely flat area, increasing the capacity of the "hold" to 1,784 liters.

Specifications

Before restyling, the Cadillac XT5 was equipped with a V-shaped 314-horsepower (367 Nm) aluminum "six" LGX with a volume of 3.6 liters, with direct injection, phase shifters on each of the four camshafts (intake manifolds mounted in the heads of the block) and a system for deactivating two "pots" when low loads, which worked in conjunction with the 8-range hydromechanical "automatic" Aisin AWF8F45.

The updated crossover is also offered in Russia with one engine, but now under its hood is a four-cylinder LSY gasoline unit with a working volume of 2.0 liters with an in-line layout, an aluminum cylinder block, a turbocharger, direct fuel injection, a 16-valve DOHC timing belt, variable valve timing, adjustable valve lift and a system for shutting off part of the cylinders at low loads. Its potential is 200 horsepower at 4250-6000 rpm and 350 Nm of torque at 1500-4000 rpm.

The turbo engine is paired with a 9-band "automatic" (with electronic control and paddle shifters for gear shifting) and, all the same, with an all-wheel drive transmission GKN (in which there is no differential, but there are two multi-plate clutches that control the thrust vector).

By default, the car is "front-wheel drive", and in order for the moment to start flowing to the rear axle, it is necessary to start the AWD or Sport mode.

Dynamics, speed and consumption

From standstill to 100 km / h, the "American" accelerates after 9.9 seconds, and its maximum speed does not exceed 210 km / h.

For every "hundred" of the way, the five-door "digests" an average of 8.9 liters of fuel in the combined cycle.

Design features

Premium crossover "XT5" is created on the front-wheel drive "bogie" C1XX, implying a transverse engine. The body of the vehicle is made with extensive use of high-strength steel grades, while the outer side panels, rear wheel arches and the air intake box are made of mild steel.

The suspension on the "American" is completely independent - McPherson struts on the front and five-link architecture on the rear axle. "Top" versions are equipped with an adaptive chassis with electronically controlled shock absorbers filled with magnetorheological fluid.

On all wheels of the five-door, disc devices (ventilated at the front) of the brake system are involved, which are assisted by a mass of electronic "assistants", and its steering mechanism includes an electric power steering.

Options and prices

In the Russian market, the 2020 Cadillac XT5 model year can be purchased in two trim levels to choose from - Premium Luxury and Sport.

  • For the basic version, dealers ask for a minimum of 3,090,000 rubles, and its functionality combines: seven airbags, dual-zone climate control, 18-inch alloy wheels, leather interior trim, a panoramic sunroof, a media center with an 8-inch touchscreen, heated front seats, an audio system Bose with eight speakers, cruise control, reversing camera, front and rear parking sensors, wireless phone charger, full LED optics and more.
  • The Sport version costs from 3,190,000 rubles, and additionally boasts: original exterior elements made of black lacquer, carbon-fiber decor in the cabin, 20-inch wheels and an adaptive suspension.
