In August 2019, KIA presented to the general public a seriously updated frame SUV Mohave (and in South Korea - under the "independent brand" Mohave The Master, with its own logo in the form of a squiggle) ... but in a conceptual guise (called "Masterpiece") this car was presented back in the spring - at the international auto show in Seoul.
After a large-scale modernization, the five-door retained the frame structure of the body, the diesel "six" under the hood and the automatic transmission, and the overall proportions of the body remained the same, but the car received completely redesigned front and rear parts, tried on a richer and more technological interior (in the spirit of the flagship sedan K900), and also acquired a number of modern options.
Externally, the restyled KIA Mohave has a recognizable appearance, but at the same time from some angles it differs significantly from the "pre-reform" car - a brutal front end with frowning LED headlights, a wide radiator grill and a "fanged" bumper and a monumental stern with fancy lanterns, a large double trunk lid and a pair "Exhaust pipes".
The SUV stretches 4930 mm in length, does not exceed 1920 mm in width and 1790 mm in height (including the roof rails). The distance between the wheelsets is 2895 mm from the "Korean", and its ground clearance is 217 mm (in the equipped form).
Interior
The interior of the KIA Mohave 2020 model year, as already noted, is made in the spirit of the flagship K900 sedan, which makes it not only attractive and modern, but also very presentable, with a clear hint of "premium".
A weighty multi-steering wheel with a four-spoke design, a virtual "toolbox" with a 12.3-inch display, a solid front panel, in the center of which, again, a 12.3-inch touchscreen of the media center flaunts and stylish audio and climate control units.
Inside the SUV, mostly good-quality finishing materials are used - pliable plastics, high-quality leather, aluminum and wood-like inserts.
The cargo-and-passenger capabilities of the KIA Mohave remained unchanged after the update: the three-row five-door interior can accommodate the driver and six of his companions, and the volume of its trunk varies from 350 to 2765 liters, depending on the position of the two rear rows of seats.
Specifications
Under the hood of the frame SUV, there is still a V-shaped six-cylinder CRDI diesel with a displacement of 3.0 liters with a turbocharger, common rail injection and a 24-valve timing, which, in the specification for the Russian market, generates 249 horsepower at 3800 rpm and 549 Nm of torque. torque at 1800-2750 rpm.
The engine is combined with an 8-band hydromechanical "automatic" and an all-wheel drive transmission with a multi-plate clutch that transfers traction to the front wheels and a range multiplier (traction is distributed between the axles in the ratio from 10:90 to 50:50, depending on the road situation).
Design features
From a constructive point of view, the restyled KIA Mohave practically does not differ from its predecessor - a ladder-type frame at the base with a body and an engine attached to it, independent front and rear suspensions (two-lever and multi-link, respectively), electric power steering (instead of the previous hydraulic one) and disc brakes on all wheels (ventilated at the front).
Rear air suspension is available as an option for this SUV.
Options and prices
In the Russian market, the updated KIA Mohave in 2020 can be purchased in three equipment options to choose from - Luxe, Prestige and Premium.
An SUV in the initial configuration will cost from 3,099,900 rubles, and the list of its equipment includes: seven airbags, dual-zone climate control, electric drive and heated front seats, ventilation of the driver's seat, separate air conditioning for the rear of the cabin, leather trim, media center with 12.3-inch screen, cruise control, 18-inch wheels, reversing camera, LED headlights and lights, virtual instrument cluster, six-speaker audio system and more.
