In May 2008, at the stands of the Madrid Motor Show, SEAT unveiled the fourth-generation five-door Ibiza hatchback, a forerunner of which was the Bocanegra concept unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March, and by the end of 2010 brought to the market a three-door model with the SC prefix (SportCoupe ).

In the winter of 2012, the car underwent the first restyling, which extolled improvements in the exterior, interior and engine palette, and in the spring of 2015 it was updated a second time - then everything was subjected to "spot" adjustments: the design, the list of equipment and the range of engines.

"Ibiza" of the fourth generation will definitely not get lost in the traffic flow - its stylish and outstanding design instantly catches the eye. In the exterior of the hatchback, sharp edges and smooth lines are woven together, which together create a predatory and deliberately dynamic look. The least successful of the "Spaniard" was a powerful rear end with scanty lanterns, although one cannot reproach it for being plain, but from other angles he is a real handsome man.

Depending on the number of doors, the "fourth" SEAT Ibiza has 4043-4061 mm in length and 1428-1445 mm in height, while other parameters do not depend on the version: width - 1693 mm, wheelbase - 2469 mm. The ground clearance of the equipped hatchback does not exceed 150 mm.

The interior of "Ibiza" against the background of the exterior is calm, but not devoid of sports accents - stylish and informative instruments, a steering wheel with the correct tides in the grip points and a rim truncated at the bottom, a two-level console in the center of the front panel with clear blocks of the multimedia center and air conditioning system. The interior of the hatchback is dominated by high-quality finishing materials, which coexist with impeccable fit of parts in German.

The driver and front passenger in the "sixth" SEAT Ibiza feel comfortable thanks to well-formed seats with good lateral support and ample adjustment ranges. But those sitting behind will feel all the "charms" of a city car - the seats themselves are friendly, but the margin of space, especially above the head and at the legs, is limited.

The luggage compartment at the five-door in the "stowed" form holds 292 liters of luggage, and at the three-door - 284 liters. These figures can be easily increased to 960 and 802 liters, respectively, by folding the rear seat as a whole or in a 2: 3 ratio. Under the raised floor there is a dock and a set of tools.

Specifications. Four petrol powertrains are offered for the SEAT Ibiza 2016 model year:

The basic solution is a 1.0-liter naturally aspirated "troika" with distributed injection and 12-valve timing, generating 75 horsepower and 95 Nm of torque. The same unit, but in a turbocharged appearance and direct power supply, depending on the modification, produces 95-110 "mares" and 160-200 Nm of peak thrust. The "top" version is assigned a 6-speed "mechanics" or a 7-band "robot", and the rest - an exclusively "manual" transmission for five gears.

Are installed on the hatchback and four-cylinder turbo engines of 1.2 and 1.4 liters with direct fuel supply and 16-valve timing: the first produces 90 "horses" and 160 Nm of available potential, and the second - 150 "heads" and 250 Nm. Both motors are combined with a manual transmission - with 5- and 6-speed, respectively.

An alternative to gasoline installations is a turbodiesel unit with a 16-valve timing structure and direct injection, which is available in three levels of "pumping": 75, 90 and 105 horsepower (210, 230 and 250 Nm of torque, respectively). In tandem with it, a 5-speed manual transmission does its job.

Starting acceleration to the first "hundred" of the SEAT Ibiza of the fourth incarnation fits into 7.6-14.3 seconds, depending on the version, and its maximum capabilities fall on 172-220 km / h. Gasoline cars are content with 4.2-5.9 liters of fuel in the combined cycle, while diesel ones use 3.4-3.6 liters of fuel.

Basically, the "Spaniard" uses the front-wheel drive chassis "PQ25", which he shares with the Volkswagen Polo hatch. The suspension design of the car is typical for the B-class: an independent system with MacPherson struts is used on the front axle, and a semi-independent H-shaped beam is used in the rear.
The steering is expressed by a rack and pinion mechanism with an integrated electro-hydraulic booster, and the braking system combines disc devices with a diameter of 288 mm on all wheels (ventilated at the front) and ABS with EBD.

Options and prices. Since 2015, SEAT Ibiza has not been officially sold in Russia (due to low consumer demand), but in Europe it has been steadily popular - in its native Spanish market, the cost of a three-door model starts at 9,730 euros, and for a five-door they ask for 10,160 euros.
In the basic configuration of the hatchback there are: four airbags, an assistance system when starting to climb, 15-inch steel wheel rims, ABS, ESP, air conditioning, power windows, multifunction steering wheel, power steering, on-board computer, audio preparation with four speakers, electric external mirrors adjustments and much more.
