The car enjoys indisputable prestige in the world for its unpretentiousness, reliability and high level of comfort ...

The fifth-generation three-box with the in-house code “XV50” was first shown to the general public on August 24, 2011 at a special event in the USA, and just two days later its “European specification” debuted. Compared to its predecessor, the machine has noticeably changed externally and internally, received modernized equipment and "armed" with new equipment.

Exactly three years later, at the stands of the Moscow Motor Show, the premiere show of the restyled Toyota Camry took place - the sedan was retouched the exterior, refined the interior, separated the new base engine, expanded the list of options and replaced the 4-band "automatic" with a more modern, 6-speed transmission.

The four-door looks attractive, impressive and very strict, and from the face it also demonstrates an aggressive tone - a predatory "squint" of headlights with LED "eyeliners", an expressive bumper with decorative aerodynamic elements and foglights in a "rich" chrome frame.
From other angles, the car is more restrained: a solid silhouette with harmonious outlines and embossed "sides" and an unpretentious stern with large lanterns connected by a "metal" cross member and a neat bumper.

The size of the "fifth" Toyota Camry is a full-fledged business class: the sedan is 4850 mm long, its width extends to 1825 mm, and the body height is 1480 mm. The pairs of wheels of the "Japanese" are 2,775 mm apart, and the ground clearance is 160 mm. In "combat" form, the weight of the four-door does not exceed 1530-1615 kg, depending on the version.

Inside the "Camry" meets the riders with a strict "cabinet" style - its interior looks representative and very nice, but unpretentious and ordinary.

However, there is simply nothing to complain about here - an elegant and clear at first glance instrument cluster, a modern three-spoke steering wheel of optimal dimensions, a monumental center console with a 7-inch multimedia system screen and a convenient "microclimate" unit resembling an old cassette tape recorder. The decoration of the sedan is devoid of obvious ergonomic mistakes and is qualitatively assembled from solid finishing materials (pleasant plastics, inserts that imitate wood and metal, fabric or genuine leather).

The front seats of the fifth generation Toyota Camry are wide and hospitable (only they clearly lack more developed lateral support), with large intervals of adjustments in different directions and heating, and optionally with memory of settings. On the second row there is a comfortable sofa with a central armrest and "limousine" space.

The trunk of the Japanese business sedan is roomy - 506 liters in the "stowed" state, but its shape is intricate, and the finish is simple. The back sofa is folded in two unequal parts, freeing up the opening for the transportation of "oversized". Under the raised floor at the four-door there is a full-size "spare wheel" on a cast disc and a convenient organizer with a tool.

Specifications. The "fifth" Toyota Camry for the Russian market is equipped with three gasoline engines, which are jointly installed with a 6-speed automatic transmission and drive front wheels:

  • The initial engine is a 2.0-liter inline-four 6AR-FSE, which, depending on the load, operates according to the Atkinson cycle, or according to the Otto cycle, with combined injection, improved VVT-iW technology with phase shifters at the outlet and intake, 16 valves and recirculation of exhaust gases. It generates 149 "horses" at 6500 rpm and 199 Nm of torque at 4600 rpm.
  • A more powerful option is a four-cylinder 2.5-liter 2AR-FE unit with variable valve timing on both camshafts, multi-point fuel supply and a 16-valve DOHC timing belt, developing 181 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 231 Nm of ultimate thrust at 4100 rpm ...
  • And finally, the "top" engine - a V-shaped "six" 2GR-FE with a volume of 3.5 liters with a variable-length intake manifold, distributed injection, a 60-degree camber angle, 32 valves and phase shifters at the inlet and outlet, producing 249 " horses "at 6200 rpm and 346 Nm of rotating potential at 4700 rpm.

The business sedan copes with acceleration from the start to the first "hundred" after 7.1-10.4 seconds, and its "maximum speed", regardless of the modification, does not exceed 210 km / h. In the combined mode of movement, the four-door "digests" no more than 7.2-9.3 liters of fuel per 100 km of track.

"Camry" of the fifth generation is based on the front-wheel drive architecture "Toyota K platform", which implies a transverse placement of the power plant. High-strength steels are widely used in the car body structure. Both front and rear "Japanese" is equipped with independent suspensions with McPherson struts, transverse stabilizers and coil springs. The sedan is equipped with an electromechanical control amplifier located on the steering shaft. Ventilated disc brakes are used on the front wheels of the four-door, and on the rear wheels - conventional devices (of course, in the "base" with ABS, EBD and other modern "chips").

Options and prices. In the Russian market, Toyota Camry 2017 is sold in nine equipment options - "Standard", "Standard Plus", "Classic", "Comfort", "Elegance", "Elegance Plus", "Exclusive", "Prestige" and "Lux" ...

The simplest vehicle equipment is estimated at 1 407 000 rubles, and its functionality is formed by: six airbags, ERA-GLONASS system, ESP, ABS, 16-inch wheel disks, front and rear parking sensors, dual-zone "climate", heated front seats, an audio system with six speakers, four power windows, engine start with a button and other options.
A sedan with an 181-horsepower engine is offered at a price of 1,557,000 rubles, for a version with a V-shaped "six" they ask for a minimum of 1,865,000 rubles, and a "top modification" costs from 2,009,000 rubles. The latter boasts: a three-zone "climate", leather trim, bi-xenon headlights, adaptive lighting system, heated rear seats, a multimedia complex, premium "music" JBL with ten speakers, monitoring of "blind" zones, 17-inch "rollers" and the darkness of other "bells and whistles".
